Time to revivify this old piece of wood.
What made me decide to breathe new life to my old blog? I think the best way to describe the reason is it being a twist of fate. One of my product placement agents, Pennini in San d'Oria, took a liking to woodworking. She asked me if I could put to use the arrows she was mass-producing, or at least sell a few of them in Jeuno. I referred her to my agent in the central city, Firewall, for managing the sales of her crafts.
But at some point, she said she needed help from me. She asked me to give her elemental arrowheads. That took me back to my origins. Back in the day before I had a need for "mules" (I find the term quite demeaning for Pennini and Firewall), I put an end to my career as a Ranger because I couldn't afford paying for arrows anymore. It was the day I saw the price on those elemental arrows that finally got to me. Now, I'm getting tons of arrows, and the price is a bunch of arrowheads.
Next thing I knew, I was browsing the auction house for gear to fit a L43 Ranger. I had to buy Scorpion Arrows in the meanwhile, elemental arrows being a health hazard before L45. And I started looking for people willing to pick up a newly reborn Ranger in their training team. It wasn't long I was offered a position as a puller. It was even shorter that I fell back in love with the duties of pulling and shooting a crapload of arrows.
Sadly, I put an end to my Ranger duties when I hit L52. In actuality, it was because Pennini was done with crafting elemental arrows. I swore I'd take back the job at a later point, when she'd be able to craft even higher grades of arrows. I did take the time to meet with Perih Vashai to further my training in the ways of Nature, and learned in the process that I wasn't the only one who got captured by the Yagudo during the time of war. It's sort of unsettling to know how grim our fate might have been were we sent to Oztorja, instead of being kept in the ruins of Horutoto.
But on my adventures in the name of the Chieftain, I had to fundle through Orc carcasses for a Davoi Key. In the process, I saw plenty of others who were in the same lot as I, one of which was a Thief. I admit, I was highly jealous of that Elvaan, being able to dispacth those hulky brutes much faster than I could as a Paladin.
That got me thinking... Thief has what I love about Ninja and Ranger: good soloing abilities and use of ranged attacks. So starting today, I'm putting Ninja behind me, and embracing anew the way of the Thief. I'll have to dust off some of my older gear, and acquire quite a few other pieces to make this work to my advantage. If I ever want to tank something, I can always go as a Paladin, that mostly works when my linkmates do hold back a bit on their damage output.
Yeah, all that "return to my roots" had me thinking I might as well return to my blog as well. Though I think I'll talk more about the latest gossip rather than what happened ages ago. I think it's just that more interesting anyways.
