Happy Year of the Rat!
Happy new year! Time for resolutions! I decided to take a sole one, but a big one. I resolve myself to listening more to what I want. Sounds easy, right? Not so much.
Take my latest foray into Thief. Doing thievy things is what I want. But I'm too often tempted to do what I should do, which is earn more merits working as a Bard, so I can learn how to better wield a dagger. Were I to do what's best, I'd be toiling day in and day out, singing and running everywhere, until I got all the extras to optimize my performance as a Thief.
Obviously, it's much easier for me to get a party as a BRD75 than as a THF62. So far I've been invited to train one day out of two, in a hate version of "pin the tail on the dhalmel". It mostly works, though with Puks, everyone's positioning is never guaranteed to stay constant.
It might take a while longer to do what I want rather than what is best, but in the end, I'll be happier. And ain't that what's truly best for our karma?
